HD Plus Creations eye more professional videographers

Unless the country’s young people gain technical skills such as professional video production to create own employment, unemployment will keep on troubling the country.

This was said by Sukez, the founder and director of HD Plus Creations, at the end of the video production training held at The Hub (Polytechnic Campus) in Blantyre.

The training was organised by HD Plus Creations in conjunction with Film Association of Malawi and Extra Solutions with support from The Hub.

Sukez, real name Gift Sukali, underscored the importance of investing in young people’s technical and entrepreneurship skills to reduce poverty and the soaring unemployment rate among them.

“The job market out here cannot accommodate everyone; hence, the need for young people to take initiatives to create employment for themselves. This is one of the reasons HD Plus Creations in conjunction with The Hub, Extra Solutions and Film Association of Malawi organised the video production training to impart knowledge and skills to young people,” said Sukez.

He believes that young people can create own jobs in the film industry if they acquire persuasive skills.

“Good things create a market for themselves. Therefore, if young people get the necessary skills in video production and produce professional videos, they will create demand for their services and employment,” he said.

According to one of the facilitators of the training, Bester Mangisoni, the training was responding to the technical needs of young people and demand for creative content in the film industry.

“There is a great demand for creative video content in the country and professional skills on the part of young people.

“Therefore, this workshop was responding to that,” said Mangisoni.

He described the workshop as a big success.

“Initially, we planned to start with 20 students but due to venue constraints we only accommodated 10 who successfully underwent the training,” he said.

Currently, HD Plus team is planning to host another video production workshop to allow more people acquire skills for professional content.

One of the participants ,Nicolas Mbonela, described the training as an eye opener, which will go a long way to improve his entrepreneurship venture.

“I am currently in multimedia related entrepreneurship business which needed such training and with it I hope my venture won’t be in vain.

“I am ready to impress with quality work,” said Mbonela. n
